Monbus starts the service between Murcia and its districts
Monbus will start this Friday 3rd December the provision of the transport service between Murcia and its districts for the next two years, through a joint venture made up of the companies Castromil S.A.U., Alcalabus S.L. and La Hispano Igualadina S.L.
The presentation of the service took place this morning in Plaza de Belluga in a ceremony attended by Juan Antonio Montoya, general director of Monbus and Andrés Brugarolas, manager of Monbus in Murcia, together with José Antonio Serrano, mayor of Murcia, and Carmen Fructuoso, councillor for Sustainable Mobility and Street Cleaning.
Among the main novelties that Monbus will carry out in the start-up of the service is the renovation of the buses. The fleet of vehicles which will connect Murcia and its districts will be almost completely renewed, with its own corporate image.
The current lines of the service will remain the same, maintaining their numbering, although some of them will undergo changes in their route in order to offer transport adapted to the needs of citizens.
The current fares are also maintained, as is the Murcia Tricolour Season Ticket, which will continue to operate normally in all its forms (General, Student, Large Family and Bono-100).
All the information about the service (lines, stops, timetables, fares and passes) will be available on the website www.tmpmurcia.es. In addition, all users who require further information can contact the following telephone number for further information (968 25 00 88) or through social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).
New model of transport
This new contract will become the responsibility of the municipality, as until now it was the regional government that managed public transport between the city centre and the districts of Murcia.
The final objective of this change in management is to unify, by 2023, the three current public transport services (urban transport, pedanías and tramway), thus creating a new transport model grouped under the same name: TMP, Murcia transport and districts.
More national presence
With its arrival in Murcia, Monbus reinforces its presence at national level where Galicia and Catalonia continue to be its two main centres of activity. At the same time, Monbus buses continue to circulate throughout the north of the peninsula and from Extremadura to Madrid with long-distance services, as well as in Andalusia where it connects Seville with towns such as Jerez, Algeciras or Ecija.
