The Monbus Obradoiro wins the Galician derby
The Monbus Obradoiro won against the Cafés Candelas Breogán (75-73) in an exciting derby. The team led by Moncho Fernández maintained their good game with the third victory in a row.
Multiusos Fontes do Sar was packed to the rafters and fans encouraged the players from the beginning. Kostas Vasileiadis standed out thanks to his ten points that allowed Monbus Obradoiro to take the lead at the start (21-9).
In the second quarter forces were equal. The Cafés Candelas Breogán reduced distances, but the three-point shots of Andreas Obst allowed Monbus Obradoiro to lead the score (33-29).
After the break, Obradoiro team came back with enthusiasm. Vasileiadis brought his outside shot while Vladimir Brodziansky and Nacho Llovet dominated the center position. The home’s team advantage increased (59-50).
In this type of games with the highest level, the demand is high and until the end anything can happen. The Monbus Obradoiro had an advantage of 16 points that visiting team neutralised to draw the match in last minute. In that moment Andreas Obst made an individual move to put his team first just in the last eight seconds to the end. Breogán got the last possession but they failed and the Monbus Obradoiro won the derby.
