Monbus celebrates Galician Literature Day

Next 17th May, Galicia pays homage to its literary culture with the celebration of Galician Literature Day. This year, Monbus joins this special commemoration and for that reason they will publish the story titled “Querida Avoa” of María Victoria Moreno. This story was written for the collection “Contos do Castromil”

“Querida Avoa” narrates in first person the trips that Sabela made by bus to her little town, Vilariño, in order to visit her grandmother, María do Casal. If you want to download this story you can do it through the following link.

From 17th and during the whole month, Monbus will display posters in honor of the author on buses and at the bus stations of Lugo, Ourense, Santiago and Pontevedra. Besides, passengers will be presented with special bookmarks designed with the motto  “Billetes para viaxar, para fuxir, para voar, para soñar…”, with which you can download the story on your mobile phone through a QR code.

“Querida Avoa” was one of the main stories of the “Contos do Castromil” collection. In the 90s this company named its buses with illustrious galician names (Rosalía de Castro, Otero Pedrayo, Castelao…) and also these special publications were shared among passengers.

This collection with 30 short stories of galician authors was an initiative of the “Asociación de Funcionarios para la Normalización Lingüística” and was sponsored by the Galician government. Published by Ir Indo, a total of 450.000 copies were distributed between 1992 and 1994.
